Gritty Kitty

Gritty Kitty was originally written in 1996 for the Bluecoats drumline (though I believe it was only played in `97) as a 60 second on the field warm-up. The title was inspired by the cartoon Ren & Stimpy (I was a big fan). The idea with this piece is that it starts simple and then progresses in a manner similar to the common succession of warm-ups (yet with some jiggyness mixed in). Note that in bars 19 and 20 the time signature/roll length can be modified to fit the number of players in the line so that the split releases make sense. Also, with fewer than five quads have them play individual drums in those bars starting at the bottom with drum 4.
